Students have the chance to be exposed to the basic elements of music through the avenue of playing an instrument in a band setting. Students study elements of music such as rhythm, note reading and form, and basic technique.

Student groups and individuals have many opportunities to play throughout the school year, including regional and state competitions, seasonal school and community programs, and in the commencement exercises of WGCPS.

WGCPS fine arts program provides instruction in beginning, intermediate, and concert bands.

BEGINNING BAND - The beginning band instructs in the care and use of an instrument along with basic music theory and performance.

CONCERT BAND - The concert band is for students who have been playing for at least one school year and is comprised primarily of 7th and 8th graders. This group performs 2nd and 3rd year music and plays in pep band and some outside performances.

SYMPHONIC BAND - The symphonic band is our top instrumental group comprised primarily of 9th-12th graders.
